About Us

The Tennessee Fuel & Convenience Store Association originally was chartered in 1929 as the Tennessee Oilmen's Association and later became the Tennessee Oil Marketers Association. In 2008, the organization adopted a new name to better reflect the full scope of its mission and membership. The term "fuel" was selected to replace "oil" as bio-diesel, electricity, hydrogen and other alternatives to petroleum rapidly gain strength in the marketplace. In addition, the phrase "convenience store" was added to emphasize the group's role in representing the complete interests of neighborhood retailers above and beyond fuel-related regulatory, legislative and educational issues.

Staff members include Executive Director Emily LeRoy, who has worked for the association since 1996, and Membership and Meetings Director Betty Brock, who joined us in 2009. TFCA also retains the services of both legal and legislative counsel. Thirteen marketers and one affiliate member serve on the board of directors.

TFCA currently represents more than 300 member companies, including wholesalers, retailers, truck stops, heating oil businesses, lubricant distributors and bulk storage facilities, as well as the many companies that supply products and services to these businesses.

In recent years, the organization has become the driving force behind a number of public safety campaigns, such as universal carding for carry-out beer purchases, which has greatly reduced teen drinking in Tennessee. TFCA also has been on the forefront of environmental efforts to clean up leaking petroleum storage tanks and properly dispose of used oil and tires.

TFCA remains the number one source of information for and about fuel marketers and convenience stores in Tennessee. The association continues to serve as the voice of the industry, reaching out to the lawmakers, the media and the general public to ensure the interests of its member companies are always front and center.

TFCA's Annual Convention & Marketer Business Meeting is held each fall, generally in September. Other educational programs are held throughout the year at various locations in Tennessee.
